Privacy Policy
Version 2026-08-28 · Last updated August 28, 2026
Privacy is the reason SoleMate exists. This explains, in plain language, what we collect, who can see it, and what control you have.
1. What we collect
- Account details: email address, password (stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), and phone number.
- Profile details: handle, optional display name, role (seeker or provider), optional region, optional bio.
- Content: posts, photos, likes and direct messages you send.
- Agreement record: the date, time and version of the Terms, Privacy Policy and Content Policy you agreed to when creating your profile.
- Technical data: minimal logs needed to keep the service running and to investigate abuse.
We do not ask for your legal name, and we ask you not to provide it.
2. Why we collect it
- Email and password: to create and secure your account and to let you recover access.
- Phone number: account recovery and abuse prevention — never displayed to other members.
- Profile and content: to operate the feed, profiles and messaging you asked for.
- Agreement record: to prove that every member accepted the rules before joining.
- Logs and reports: safety, moderation, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
3. Who can see what
- Other members see only your handle, display name, role, bio, region (if you allow it), and the content you post. Photos stay veiled until you unveil them or approve a viewer.
- Your email and phone are never shown to other members and are not available through the public app.
- The founder can view the member directory, which includes emails and phone numbers, to operate the platform, handle safety reports and meet legal obligations. Access is restricted by database security rules to that single administrator account.
- Service providers (hosting, database, authentication) process data on our behalf under contract; they may not use it for their own purposes.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run advertising profiling on it.
4. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure provider. Row-level security rules mean each account can only read its own private record; anonymous visitors have no database access to member contact details. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
5. How long we keep it
Profile and content are kept while your account exists. When you delete your account we remove your profile and content from the service; residual copies may persist briefly in encrypted backups. We may retain a minimal record of your agreement acceptance, ban decisions, and any legally required reports after deletion.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit or clear your profile fields at any time in Settings.
- Keep photos veiled by default, hide your region, and use approval-only profile access.
- Mute, block or report any member.
- Request a copy of your data, correction, or deletion — contact the founder in-app.
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, UK, or California), you may have additional rights to access, portability, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, and to complain to a regulator. We honour these requests without discriminating against you for making them.
7. Children
SoleMate is strictly 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we learn a minor has created an account, we delete it immediately.
8. International transfers and changes
Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, with appropriate safeguards. If this policy changes materially we will announce it in the app and, where required, ask you to agree again.
